Strung Up

"The Strung Up bluegrass band is made up of six men that bring individual talents and musical perspectives to the stage. Together their sound is unique, yet traditional, energetic yet soothing. Warning!!! This is not your Father’s bluegrass band. Yes, Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs tunes are in their repertoire, but their arrangements are new and fresh.

Strung Up has shared the stage with many Central Ohio and MidWest based bands as well as several well known national acts including:  The Steeldrivers, The Steep Canyon Rangers, Marty Raybon, Blue Highway, Nothin' Fancy, Summertown Road, Audie Blaylock & Redline, The Freighthoppers, Junior Brown and String Therapy!

The band is led by Marty Leedy. A native of southwestern Virginia, Marty brings a soulful and powerful vocal to the band that is driven by a love for music.  Marty is the ring leader of this band of brothers that delivers emotional renditions of your favorite bluegrass and traditional country tunes.

A significant source of the energy that this band brings to the stage is all hot air. Yes, this bluegrass band has a harmonica player! Not any harmonica player, John K. Victor is known around the region for his tasteful yet energy filled playing. John, also a painter, boater and fisherman, plays with several bands around central Ohio and his contribution to the sound of this band cannot go unrecognized.

The youngest men in the band, brothers Kale Richardson (mandolin) and Bo Richardson (lead guitar) are individually, highly talented multi-instrumentalists and their tight sibling harmonies and strong lead singing rings clear. For several years, they performed with their parents in the Tall Grass bluegrass band and “Tall” is an appropriate descriptor for these guys as Kale is 6’8” and Bo is 6’5”!!! These guys are the real deal!!

After taking some time off, Jason Cochenour has rejoined the band on banjo and fiddle!  Jason is a multi-instrumentalist that we are very happy to share the stage with.  His traditional renditions of many fiddle tunes will get your toes tappin' for sure!!

Holding it all together, typically from the back of the stage, is Daryn Steed (bass). His driving bass lines punctuate the delivery of the band’s many songs. Daryn has also been playing on stage for many years and can always be counted on to make the rest of the Strung Up boys so good."
